Brasfield & Gorrie
Building Success Stories
Inducted in 2007
Established in 1921 as the Thomas C. Brasfield Company, the Brasfield & Gorrie we know today was formed in 1964, when founder Miller Gorrie purchased Brasfield’s construction assets in Birmingham. Since then, Brasfield & Gorrie has grown steadily, opening full-service offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Orlando, Florida, in 1985; in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Nashville, Tennessee, in 1998; and in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2006.
In addition to offering full-service general contracting, Brasfield & Gorrie provides construction management as well as design-build services. The company’s experience is diverse, including health care, industrial, office, institutional, retail, education, and water treatment facilities.
Brasfield & Gorrie brings a more than four-decade legacy of excellence to every project it undertakes. No matter what role the company fulfills, it has the expertise to complete a project in a timely, efficient manner. The reason has everything to do with teamwork—from the earliest planning stages through the final finishing touches. Whether it is constructing a major interstate highway in 37 days or a $50 million pipe manufacturing facility in under a year, Brasfield & Gorrie earns customer confidence for meeting tight schedules. The company is known for its quality-finished products, which include some of the most recognizable structures in the Southeast.
Adding to Brasfield & Gorrie’s reputation is its focus on people. The company is completely dedicated to serving its clients, its communities, and, significantly, its own family, who make Brasfield & Gorrie more than simply a place to work. They make it a team and family-oriented experience like few others.
Today, the company includes 21 divisions that focus on specific, specialized construction markets and employs more than 3,000 people. Its superintendents, foremen, and skilled labor force are some of the most experienced and best builders in the South. Performing almost $2 billion in new construction this year, Brasfield & Gorrie is one of the largest privately held contracting firms in the nation. It is currently ranked 28th among the nation’s “Top 400 Contractors” by Engineering News-Record, 15th among building contractors, and No. 1 by Modern Healthcare. But for all of its growth and success, the company’s future is firmly rooted in the vision and ideals of its founders—five men and women whose values the company strives to honor today in the way it interfaces with its clients and its own employees and in the way it approaches every project.
Brasfield & Gorrie places a high priority on giving back to the community. Some of the organizations the company has worked with include the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, the Make a Wish Foundation, United Cerebral Palsy, the Salvation Army, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
Brasfield & Gorrie’s mission is one of excellence. In every project it undertakes, it strives to be a construction industry and conscientious business leader, attuned to the needs of its clients, its communities, and its own Brasfield & Gorrie family. Its goal is to do better
